Terrible speculation. If the South had won, it likely would have spread north. The North had no desire to fight, anyway and didn't regard blacks favorably. And probably would have blamed them, because it seems that was the case even with a win, 100 years later. Lincoln only threw the slave cause in to re-energize a tired war. Meanwhile, the deportation of blacks would have been an option, as automation replaced them. Or even freeing them, because Europe freed them. Or simply, black insurrection became guerilla warfare, and a different war ensued. The biggest issue was export trade with a greedy Europe. That would have driven policy. Economics always will. And by the 1900's the need for blacks would either have been erased or evolved. Blacks weren't treated well for 130 years after the war, anyway. Just because they were granted rights by the government, means little when they are denied jobs, affluence, and equality. The evolution of all cultures lies solely in economics. You either need them, or you don't. The survival of a nation and its foundation had little to do with and to this day has nothing to do with blacks. Unfortunately for them. Economics drive survival. How are we doing in today's society of social issues masking this reality? Especially for the blacks. 400 years later, blacks are still at the bottom.
